Mounting Instructions: Install the bell at the top of your door so that the top curl will graze the door jamb. If your door opens outward, install the bell on the inside of your door. If your door opens inward, install the bell on the outside of your door.

I love the way the bell looks. The price was right. It just does not ring when the door opens and only rings sometimes when the door slams shut. Not good for what we need in our store to let us know people are coming in. Very disappointed.

True disappointment - bell was true to picture advertised but is stationery and doesn't really 'ding' unless you slam door. Feel bell itself should have some flexilbility so that it would shake enough to tinkle

This is very well-made and has an aged appearance, just as I expected and wanted. Very nicely detailed. One comment, the description on the website and in your catalog, it does not fit over the door, it attaches to a door. I would recommend this item, provided you aren't expecting to slip it over the top of your door. Perhaps you should update your description.

I like the idea of a bell right on the door like days gone past. I have two doors that are perfect for this type of bell. Best Regards~

I bought this for my wife's shop door so she could hear when someone came inside, but it doesn't work. The bell has a great sound but the metal bracket is to stiff, so it does move enough to ring the bell. I moved it up so it would brush along the door header and that didn't work either. I like the tone of the bell but I think this is made to replicate a shop bell and not function as one. I will try to make.a new bracket of lighter metal and swe if that works. Bottom line, if you're looking for a bell that works this isn't it. If you just want the look of an old fashioned shop keeper 's bell then it will do.
