Based on a fascinating mystery, in 1917 Anna "cookie" Covington set out to record all her favorite cookie recipes for her daughter because at that time no published cookie cookbooks existed. Strangely, her 76p. handwritten personal cooking diary was never delivered to her daughter. 88 years later, the unused recipe journal fell into the hands of food historian, Barbara Swell, who recognized its value. 221 cookie recipes dating from 1880 are compiled with cookie baking history, vintage photos and art.
