Antebellum Crazy Quilt
May 22, 2016
My, my I purchased this identical item a couple of years ago from victorian trading company and wanted another, my how things have changed. The older quilt had larger, different colored embroidered patches- different thread colors and shapes- and the velvet border was much smaller. The new quilt has a much larger border not much embroidery, it's no way as nice as the one I purchased years ago. I am glad I have the older one as the new one available is no way as nice. It's sad. I guess the production costs were too high and they scaled back? I don't know, but I was certainly disappointed when it arrived. It is to be folded at the foot of a bed so I will keep it, but it makes me a little sad.

Although the velvet is quite nice the picture shows some embroidery that just isn't there on the actual product. There was a small amount of embroidery thread drawn roughly across the border between some squares but no nice design or anything resembling it. So if you love the look due to the velvet patches go for it, but don't expect any type of fine needlework. I have returned the quilt.

I like the quilt, but was surprised to find it is blue. In the picture in the catalog the main color looks black, which matches my decor. I am going to keep it, but really wish it would have stated the color in the description.

The quilt is STUNNING! It is wonderful to snuggle under in my big cushy chair.

Very attractive throw, nice weight and soft to the touch. Great to cuddle up under. The jewel tones of the patches give it a rich look. Hand-crafted style unique embroidery add to the charm. The velvet border is midnight navy, not black like it looks in the picture and is hand quilted, so dry-cleaning is recommended.
