I am between a M and an S with a larger chest and small waist. The instructions said to order down if unsure so I did and got a small. Unfortunately I cannot close the top buttons but it fits perfectly at the waist. I have had problems here before ordering a M - it ended up being VERY large - so I figured this was foolproof. I will try exchanging it for a M and using the corset to cinch the waist the way I would like it. It is a beautiful unique coat but I have to give it 2 stars because the fit is so strange.

I ordered a size S expecting to get something roughly corresponding to a size 4-6. The product that I received had to be around a 10. I would call it a roomy medium if not a large. I have to pinch several inches of fabric in order for it to look like its supposed to. I thought perhaps it had been a shipping error and I had received the wrong size I checked the label and sure enough it said SM.If you are truly a S then you are out of luck with this lovely coat. Other than the huge size discrepancy this is a pretty and well made coat. I am very disappointed that I won't be able to wear it.

The coat I received is not the same as the one I ordered although some parts of it are much the same. The one in the catalogue image has a curved seam going from the side hip just below the pocket and moves towards the middle and meets the seam in the center where it is double breasted. The piece of fabric sewn in gives fullness to the front and creates the flounce we see in the image. The coat I received does not have this important seam. On the coat I received the seams run from the shoulder down to the lower edge. This is very common seamwork and it does not compare to the interesting style created by the flounce in the image shown. Customer service tells me there is only one houndstooth coat. If that is the case the one that they list should match the one they send out. Buyer be ware. Only buy this coat if you do not mind that the superb and distinctive seamwork along the bottom will be missing. Lovely coat otherwise.

I've admired this coat for a long time and decided to bite when it was on sale. It is beautifully constructed. After reading reviews, I still couldn't determine best size so I ordered a small and medium. I am 5'9 and 140 lbs with broad shoulders and long torso - the small was too small in the arms and shoulders. The medium fit and the sleeve length perfect but... the pocket slashes hit at the bottom of my rib cage and for me, should have dropped down 3. The end of the lacing on the back should hit near the small of your back but hit higher on the rib cage, not near the waist at all. If you are long waisted this coat will simply not fit where the details are flattering. Sadly, returning.

i'm 5'8 135 lbs. i ordered the small because i am small boned especially in the upper body.the beautiful packaging quality of the coat led me to quickly remove the tags convinced it was the perfect coat.then i realized the upper back chest were too tight. i had the 4 buttons reduced to 2 had them moved to give my chest more roomthe upper back is tight when i put my elbows together in front of me but the shoulder seams are perfect in a larger size would make my shoulders look wider than they are. also the circumference of the shoulder is too large creating a gap between me the coat. between the gap in the side of the bust the tight front of the bust the coat creates the illusion that my chest is flatter wider than it actually is - definitely not the feminine look i expected from an old-fashioned women's riding coat style. i will likely reduce it to a single button between my chest waist - between the original two rows of buttons.there is a significant discrepancy between th
