It Is Well With My Soul Paperweight
Hymnist Horatio Spafford penned the lyrics to "It Is Well With My Soul" in the 1870s following a series of tragedies in his life: first the death of his young son, then financial ruin, and finally the death of his four daughters in a shipwreck. Though disaster struck time and time again, he weathered his sorrows with dignity and grace, channeling his grief into a beloved hymn that has offered solace to faithful souls throughout the generations:
"When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul."
