Description
Over the years, Merry Old England came to adopt the thinking that a cricket in the home would ensure prosperity and health.
Inspired by this belief, the beloved 19th century English writer, Charles Dickens, titled one of his novels A Cricket on the Hearth. As testified by the tale, Victorians postured the little chirper by fireside in the belief that only good would come upon their household.

Another Charmer
When I gave these to my daughter for her fireplace, my grandchildren were absolutely charmed by the story and the idea of a good luck cricket. Best Christmas Buy Ever!

Love it
I really love my little cricket. Have been meaning to get one for years. Hooray I finally did it and it sits on my hearth right now.

Fun
I have wanted one of these for quite awhile. I have my polished brass cricket on my phone table. Yes, it would be nice to have a little print up of the legend of the hearth cricket, but I do find him most enjoyable without such. To me he looks very much like a cricket! I do not understand that someone would think it looked like a cockroach! This is well made for the price paid.
