Hearth Cricket (Polished Brass)
Inspired by this belief, the beloved 19th century English writer, Charles Dickens, titled one of his novels A Cricket on the Hearth. As testified by the tale, Victorians postured the little chirper by fireside in the belief that only good would come upon their household.

I purchased this hearth cricket for my daughter as a wedding gift. She is getting married THIS Christmas Eve! I purchased one for my new home after a divorce 3 years ago and both of my children who moved in with me loved the cricket and the story that it would bring good luck! My daughter will be quite excited to see she has her own for her hearth. I know she will think of me each time she looks at it!

I purchased both a polished brass and a patina hearth cricket to give as housewarming gifts. I have given them before and they are well received as most folks have everything they need and, although the cricket is substantial, it's a small keepsake with meaning.Linda

I really like this little cricket and the card with the story that came with it. I don't have a hearth to put it on - yet, but it's in a place of honor where I am right now.I really love all the other beautiful things I've ordered, especially the Bronte nightgown. Also, I just received the Jane Austen book of six stories today and I look forward to curling up with it.Thanks VT!

I would have been happier if the screws used to hold the three component parts were better-integrated into the design, but I am still happy enough to give it as part of a housewarming gift.

I ordered this hearth cricket because I heard that crickets being good fortune. Especially gold ones. I keep him on my hearth where he looks just fine.
