Inspired by this belief, the beloved 19th century English writer, Charles Dickens, titled one of his novels A Cricket on the Hearth. As testified by the tale, Victorians postured the little chirper by fireside in the belief that only good would come upon their household.

I bought the cricket but not having a hearth, I put him on a shelf where I can always see him. He's a bit smaller than I thought he would be, but I love him just the same. I have always heard about having a cricket on the hearth would bring good luck so I hope having one on a shelf will bring me luck. The first time I saw him in the catalog I loved him, so I finally had to buy him! I am so happy to have him!

The crickets are beautiful, was so impressed with how nice they are and the good luck cricket story card is an excellent touch to go with the cricket. I have purchased at least 20 of the crickets and will purchase more!

This made a wonderful housewarming gift for my mother. This charming little guy now sits proudly on her hearth to bring her good luck. The details are amazing, he looks like he could jump away any moment! This will be my standard housewarming gift going forward.

I purchased both a polished brass and a patina hearth cricket to give as housewarming gifts. I have given them before and they are well received as most folks have everything they need and, although the cricket is substantial, it's a small keepsake with meaning.Linda
