Humphrey The Hare Planter
April 22, 2020
The description says he’s papier-mache but he’s resin. The sprig of green is stuffed into a square of styrofoam with nothing to hide it and strings of hot glue left over the basket and flowers. The eyes don’t set into the head fully so they stick out and they don’t push in anymore. It doesn’t feel “vintage” it feels “cheap”. So if you made the mistake of purchasing poor Humphrey the Hare like I did and don’t want to go through the hassle of a return here’s how I d him I popped out the eyes and used off-white polymer clay to form actual eyes for him, then reed the eyes into the polymer; I removed the terrible plastic sprig and used some nice silk flowers with some moss at the base so the styrofoam doesn’t show, and removed the wisps of hot glue and reattached everything neatly. Nothing I can do about him being resin instead of paper... For $80 I shouldn’t have had to redo him.
